NOMINATED GRAMMY WINNER?
As it turns out, that title belongs to both Dolly Pardon and Beyoncé whom have both been nominated 46 times, but that was before I watched ABC World News Tonight and found out she has five nominations which brings her to a total of 51 nominations which puts Beyoncé ahead of Pardon. Beyoncé is currently tied with producer David Foster for seventh place among all artists overall with the most nominations, according to Billboard.com.
Queen Bey snagged her 47th nod early Friday when her album, "Beyoncé" was announced as a contender for Best Urban Contemporary Album. The "Halo" singer and Parton had been tied at 46 apiece. The feat was first reported by Billboard.
Beyoncé is up for album of the year and awards in R&B and pop fields. When it comes to winning, Beyoncé has 17 Grammys in her collection. She has to win 10 more to catch up with Alison Krauss, who has won more Grammys than any other woman in history, with 27 under her belt.
Beyoncé's five nods so-far also vaulted her into seventh place on the all-time nominations list, past producer David Foster and two behind Kayne West, who has 53. Super producer Quincy Jones is the most-nominated artist of all time, with 79 nods, while Beyoncé hubby Jay Z sits at third with 61.On the all-time list of Grammy wins, meanwhile, Beyoncé is 20th, with 17 trophies, while Jay Z has 19.
Depending on what happens at the 57th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 8, Beyoncé is set to take on the second spot on that list, which currently is held by Aretha Franklin, who has 18 statues. Dolly Parton was not nominated this year; however, she was nominated in 2014 in the category of Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the song "You Can't Make Old Friends," with Kenny Rogers.
